Immerse yourself in the centuries-old traditions of the village of Ribnovo and the preserved old custom of a wedding with a written bride "gelina".
In this experience, you will be the "bride"! We will dress you in an authentic Rybnov costume, "paste" your face with sequins according to tradition, and you will have the opportunity to take selfies.
In this experience, Nevse will welcome you to the mountain village of Ribnovo – home to one of the most iconic and preserved wedding customs in Bulgaria. Here, the tradition of the „painted bride“ – gelina – is passed down from generation to generation and is part of the living intangible cultural heritage of the local community.
Outside of the winter wedding season, when rituals fill the village with music, costumes and festivity, you will have the opportunity to experience this unique culture in a more intimate and peaceful setting. Together with local women, you will learn more about the symbolism of the custom, wear traditional clothing and participate in the ritual of decorating your face with the characteristic sequins ("pulcheta"), transforming into a bride-to-be.
The experience includes meeting the hosts in their community, a walk through the village, and the opportunity to try homemade local food – just as it would be served to guests at home.
For one day you will not be just visitors, but part of the rhythm and traditions of Ribnovo.
