The local cuisine is rich in sweets and pastries, which the housewives still prepare with great excitement, often overflowing into a competition between neighbors for the most skillful execution. In the style of traditions, here we will present you the unique sweet "gargaleta".
„"Gargale", in the plural "gargaleta", is a specific local sweet that is made only in Yakoruda. It owes its name to its appearance, resembling a large nest with small garget chicks. Recently, it has been increasingly present at festive tables for both Kurban Bayram and St. George's Day, which is why people in the town are increasingly giving it the importance of a traditional specialty that unites the community.
